Review: Roda Lacket

Ever since I began using snus I have wanted to try Roda Lacket. I'm not the biggest fan of bold tobacco flavoured snus, like General original, but I still go back to basics every now and then. Roda Lacket is white portion tobacco snus with hints of dried fruit, so i was curious to see how it would compare to the citrus and pepper of General original white portion.
Appearance The can is simple, classic and kinda sexy. The gold type bounces off the bright red background. It has your standard catch lid, and when you first you get that gorgeous star arrangement of the portion!
Smell The smell, like the appearance of the can, is simple. not a whole lot is going on, which isn't a bad thing. Just tobacco with notes of sweet fruit in the background. I would say a much more pleasant and muted aroma that other non flavored snus, where the salt and/or lemon is like a punch to the throat. I was really excited to find out what it tasted like! Taste The white portion was a bit dry to start out and i didn't get a lot of flavour. But after a few minutes the flavour began to creep it's way out. It is a mild salty tobacco with hints of berries or dried cherries. It very tasty and a perfect everyday snus. I used a portion at work one morning and the taste lasted about 3 hours. I could totally use this one everyday if I had easy access to buying more. There is barley no drip to speak of, which is a plus, nothing is worse than working in the heat and having to swallow a big gulp of snus run off. It's not salty either, another plus. Again working outside in a stuffy aircraft you don't want to have a salty portion drying out your mouth. I would say Roda Lacket is a good year round snus, but I can see using it more in the Fall and into winter. It goes well with a mug of coffee and I bet even better with a cup of grey or black tea.
Overall Overall I really am enjoying Roda Laket. Like the can it's self, this snus is elegant and simple. Nothing fancy but wonderful still. I prefer this over General original white hands down. The flavour is very mild but good and I can see it pairing well with many different teas and Autumn baked goods. Score: 3.5 out of 5 catch lids

(Fisrt review) Catch Collection: Time Square

This is my first snus review blog post ever, and let me first say that i love trying new snus. good or bad, new and original or old and traditional. I'll try anything once :) So a few day ago Chad over at www.Snubie.com sent me a wonder box full of snus for me to try and eventually review. When i looked at all of what i got i was drawn to all the mini's he gave me for some unknown reason. Catch's time square popped out at me first. the subtitle is "sweet and sour" and I was curious what a sour snus would be like. I cracked open the can and was delighted by what I smelled. Sweet, creamy pear! I love pears and this snus smells amazing. So on to the review.
Appearance The can itself is fun and colorful. It's fun, classy and causal. I really dig the small size of minis. I can put the can in my pocket, even in women's pant, which have very little pockets, and barley know it's there. I even was able to carry it around at work without worrying about it falling out or having someone see it (can't use tobacco while i'm working). It also has a nice little catch lid like all Swedish match products. Smell Like i mentioned before, the smell is divine! Hints of herbs and ginger with a burst of sweet creamy pear. I could seriously smell this snus all day. I found myself just opening the can to take whiff every now and then. Some snus i don't really care for the smell even if I like the taste, but not with this one. I wouldn't say the smell is super strong or over powering, but strong enough to let you know what the flavour might be like.
Taste and feel Now on to the important part, the taste. To be honest i wasn't sure what to expect taste wise with this snus. I kept thinking back to the "sweet and sour" on the can. It smells like pears but I got no hint of a sour or spicy smell. When i popped in my first portion i first got herbs and ginger with barley a trace of salt, which was good. I don't like salt heavy snus at all. The flavour of Time Square is very mild, which is no suprise since it is a mini portion after all. But pleasant nonetheless. After a few minutes of letting the white portion get moist what i had been waiting for came, the pear! Sweet, creamy, ripe pear. I had to kind of fish for the flavor, licking the portion every now and then to get more of the flavor to come out, but it is so good. after about an hour the herbs and ginger are pretty much gone from the mix, but the pear lingers. As the flavour dies I got hints of banana too. what a treat! This snus isn't strong at all but also goes great with a cold light beer. As so the nicotine hit, it's nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done, while at work i put two portions in, just to make sure I could make it through my whole shift. Like I said before I really like minis because I have a small mouth and most of the time if I have a regular portion in, when i talk or laugh you can see it peaking out by my teeth. With the minis i can put two portions in and you never see them, nor does it puff out my cheeks. The portion material is soft and doesn't get slimy, ever after having them in for a few hours. And like most white portions, this one takes a couple of minutes to get moist and release the flavor, which i prefer over original portions.
Overall Overall I love this snus. I wish catch would make a normal size of this one. The smell is so good, but i wish the flavour was stronger and lasted longer. The fit is great, when just one portion in i barley feel it there, and could probably forget i even have it in. This snus is a perfect summer treat that goes great with a fruity drink or smoothie or an ice cold lager. If you like pears you NEED to try this one out, the smell alone is worth it. I will be using this snus until the stop making it! Score Catch Collection: Time Square 4 out 5 Catch lids

There and Back again. A tale of snus discovery

So where are all the lady snus users at?! Feels like I'm swimming alone out here. I think it's time to get my voice out in the snus world since I've been wanting to be more involved in the community since i began using snus back in 2010. So let's begin shall we. I first discovered what "snus" was like most Americans did when Marlboro and Camel introduced their so called "snus". I thought it was a neat idea and a great way to get a nicotine fix without letting my parents know. I was smoking and living at home in 2010 and knew my parents weren't so keen of the idea of me smoking. so i picked up some American snus and wasn't too impressed but it got me curious and wanting more. So after hours of google-ing. I learned all about real Swedish snus. The only problem was I couldn't get it in Minnesota! Hope was not yet gone, I would find away, and some how, some way i would get my hands on real snus!
Fast forward a couple months, I had moved down to Tulsa, Oklahoma. still smoking, i renewed my search for snus. I drove all over town asking for any snus that wasn't Camel. Nothing! Real snus was still only available online and issues with the PACT act made things difficult and expensive for me to order any. So I wrote to my congressman back in the summer of 2011....well that did nothing, no surprise there. But hey at least I tried. Right? So back to the drawing board. I then decided to enter the snus social media scene. from the dip videos to snubie.com, that's how i got in contact with Chad (aka snubie). He was kind enough to ship me some snus to try. It was wonderful. Christmas in July! By that time i had saved up some cash and ordered a small order online. A couple of weeks later i had a small stock of some real Swedish snus. I was finally able to quit smoking all together, which was a major goal of mine. But since I couldn't easily get my hands on more snus, i soon ran out. I picked smoking back up for a while until i bought an e-cig. I vaped for over a year, happy to finally feel free from cigarettes for good. Seldom do I ever crave one besides I've come to find smoking pretty nasty! But over time i got tired of the e-cig and found out that all the Kum and Go gas stations were now selling General snus, and for pretty cheap!! Finally we are getting one small step forward to getting some real quality Swedish snus in the States. Since then I keep going back for more General, and yet again I'm still wanting more..... So there, that's is my little story. With this blog I hope to help get the word out to more people about Swedish snus, and not that imitation camel poop. I hope to write snus reviews, connect with other snus users, educate others, and offer my point of view as being one of very few female snus users. Cheers!
